Easter Sunday: A new resurrected life in Christ

Easter Sunday is the most important feast of the year for us Christians. The events of the first Easter Sunday is the epicentre of our faith - the reason for the hope that we have. Christ's ressurection on the third day is a fulfilment of God's promises and a guarantee of victory from death for all who believe in Him and do His will.

Every lent we practice to let go worldly things, giving our self up in prayer, fasting and almsgiving so that we may, together with Christ, experience His resurrection on Easter. But what if my Lent didn't go so well? What if I wasn't able to fulfil my own Lenten promises? What if I don't feel like I have depeened my relationship with God this season? These questions echoed in my mind as I reflected upon my suboptimal Lent, and feelings of guilt and unworthiness loomed over me.

Every morning I have the courage to begin again

However, I am reminded that the worst sinner experiences the greatest mercy. Despite my failing efforts, or lack thereof, Jesus still invited me to His feast of victory. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in every new morning He proclaims over me that I am forgiven. I am grateful that I can boast in my weakness because the reason for my hope this Easter season is not my good deeds or my own efforts but by God's divine mercy. And because of that, every morning I have the courage to begin again and try to live the new resurrected life that Jesus bought for me with His own precious blood.

Reflection Questions:

What areas of your life have you hung on the cross of Christ?

What new habits do you desire to put on for the new life Christ bought for you?
